OUR STORY

Alex’s dream was to be a stylist from the age of 13, drawn early to self-expression through fashion. As an adult, she’s deepened that instinct with an understanding of how aesthetic pleasure creates the neurological conditions for creativity to flourish - opening the gates for imagination, play, and new ways of seeing. She uses flowers to carry aesthetic pleasure into new spaces, believing in their power to create deep sensory experiences and to open quiet, meaningful connections between people. Alex dreams of working with clients who value the importance of creating a multidimensional experience and see floral design as a valuable addition to their space or occasion. Her designs feel intentional, elevated, and joyfully unexpected. Blending contemporary aesthetics with a sense of play, every arrangement is thoughtfully styled to bring beauty, personality, and a little magic to the moment. Alex’s work favours thoughtful, unforced beauty through the drama of what Mother Nature created.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Dirt Monologue speaks to the overlooked foundations of life — soil as the origin, the quiet constant that allows beauty to exist at all. In the same way, meaningful connection is built from subtle, often unnoticed elements: environment, atmosphere, and shared sensory experience. Through floristry, the studio focuses on shaping these moments, valuing what is temporary and experiential. Though flowers fade, the memory they create endures — and it is this impermanence that gives them meaning.

Dirt Monologue is a Melbourne based Floral design studio lead by Alex Wass - artist and fashion stylist turned florist. As a queer and inclusive studio, Dirt Monologue’s goal is to connect with openness and care, designing spaces that feel considered and welcoming to all. Alex welcomes enquiries for weddings, events, special occasions, corporate, editorial and more.
